This year the Landscape Institute will be hosting an online edition of the 2021 LI Awards ceremony on 25 November. In light of the recent pandemic and although we would love to see you all in person, we want to keep everyone safe while celebrating the best of the sector. Continuing from 2020, tickets to this event are FREE for everyone. With a growing international audience, global access to the ceremony and more featured award categories than ever before, this will be our biggest and most inclusive celebration to date. Dr Jala Makhzoumi receives IFLA Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Award

During a virtual ceremony on Wednesday 18 August, as part of the opening ceremony of IFLA’s World Congress 2020, IFLA President James Hayter announced Iraqi architect, landscape architect and academic Dr. Jala Makhzoumi as the 2021 Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Award laureate. The annual Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Award is the highest honour IFLA can bestow on a landscape architect. Inaugurated by IFLA in 2005, it celebrates a living landscape architect whose achievements and contributions have had a unique and lasting impact on society, the environment, and the profession of landscape architecture. The 2021 LI Awards opened for submissions on 29 April, welcoming everyone from the sector to submit their projects. We are delighted to share some recent updates. All Awards Open Categories and Professional Categories this year introduced a discount for sole traders and those in the public or third sector (such as voluntary groups, charities and NGOs). Green Flag Award has joined the LI Awards for the first time, sponsoring the Landscape and Parks Management Category, in line with their 25th anniversary. Entries will close on 8 July. The finalists will be announced in September and the winners at the Awards Ceremony in November (hosted by James Wong, British ethnobotanist and TV presenter), celebrating the brightest and the best from the sector.
